What is TheBestDJ?
TheBestDJ is a platform that connects the crowd with the DJ during a set. People scan a QR code at the venue to request a song, vote on the tracks that are playing, and optionally tip so their request is played sooner. The DJ gets all of it in a live dashboard, along with analytics on what is working on the floor. It is used mainly in nightclubs and Latin dance venues (salsa and bachata) in Spain.
How do I request a song from the DJ?
Point your phone camera at the QR code the DJ or the venue has on display. A web page opens, you search for your song and send it. No app to install and no account needed to request.
Do I need to download an app?
No. For the audience everything runs in the phone browser after scanning the QR code. DJs can optionally install a desktop connector for Serato or VirtualDJ that automatically reports the tracks they play.
How much does it cost?
It is free for the audience: requesting songs and voting cost nothing, and tipping is optional from 0.50 EUR. DJs get a free plan with up to 3 sessions per month, a QR code and live voting. The DJ Pro plan is 9 EUR per month and adds unlimited sessions, tips (you keep 90%), advanced analytics and data export.
How is this different from just asking the DJ in person?
The request lands in an ordered queue instead of interrupting the DJ, it is recorded, and the DJ chooses what to accept. On top of that the DJ sees in real time what is landing (votes, genres, BPM) and keeps the session data, which a shouted request at the booth never leaves behind.
Does it work with Serato and VirtualDJ?
Yes. The desktop connector reads what you are playing in Serato or VirtualDJ and pushes it to your live dashboard, so the crowd sees the current track and session analytics fill in on their own.
What does the DJ earn from tips?
The DJ keeps 90% of every tip; the remaining 10% covers payment processing. Payments are handled through Stripe.
